Horizontally Backwards (and other lines)
Abstract
An experimental piece of writing about a series of video artworks exploring the relationship between lived experience and transit landscapes. The project used hitch-hiking journeys through Europe and along the USA/Canada border as a performative methodology to collect stories, and video as a form of documentation. Rather than suggesting an intrinsic relationship between a story and a place, this project explores the psycho-geography of transit routes and the notion of passing through from subjective perspectives.
The text focuses mostly on the journey project and video 'Horizontally Backwards' along the USA/Canada Border, and includes stills from the video excerpts from the narrative.
